Thanks for reading ‘not all archaeologists have beards’.

If I was to pigeonhole myself, I would say that I specialise in Roman archaeology in Britain and the Near East and have published on water technology, memory and landscapes. Most of all though, I’m interested in the various ways in which people past and present interact and live with the material world. I’m hoping to fill these pages with thoughts about archaeology, which pop into my mind in the course of my research, teaching and other encounters of an archaeological nature in my daily life.
